It’s hard to believe the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair is half-way through the week already! However, that doesn’t mean there’s lack of events. The day kicked off with the Hunter Jumper Horse Show at 7, and the fun is just beginning! The RMWF is one of the three annual fairs that takes place in Brandon. The goal is to spread awareness and educate urban and rural communities about agriculture, while providing entertainment and community pride to the region. Families have come near and far to attend the annual event. Rhianna Jensen-Guenter is from Wawota, Saskatchewan has been coming to the winter fair ever since she was a child. Today, she brought her neices. “You know it’s smart that they organize the event during Spring Break, and having this week for the kids to have an outlet and there’s just so many different things for kids to do. It’s just an awesome experience.” Rhianna’s nieces can’t wait to check out the petting zoo! There are tons of family friendly entertainment going on this afternoon. Tim Holland the Stunt Ventriloquist performed this afternoon and let me tell you, he had the adults laughing just as much as the children. I had the opportunity to chat with Tim and he shares how performing makes him feel. “It feels great. I really think the audience at the Royal Winter Fair is really perfect for my show. My show really tries to engage the whole family – the adults and the kids. I love it.” Brother and sister Rachel and Mattew Demetrioff took in Tim’s show and he had them laughing from the start! “I really liked him, he was really funny! I liked the parrot the best!” You missed the show today? Not to worry, you can catch Tim tomorrow at 1:30 in the MNP Hall. Tomorrow you can catch more entertainment! You can sing along to classic songs with Canadian legend Fred Penner will be in the Amphitheatre at 1:30. Make sure to check out The Enbridge Royal Experience at 4- children will get the chance to ride ponies and horses. And don’t forget about Doodles the Clown! He’ll be performing in the Amphitheatre at 3:30, it’ll be “unbelievable!”
I know I’ll be checking out the Superegos at 5 in the Ag Action Stage the Royal Farm Yard, because who doesn’t love to watch cute dogs doing cool tricks?
Calling all families! Today is your day- it’s Family Day here at the RMWF! That means the fair has a special day planned for 4 year olds to 14 year olds! From watching a HOJA concert or a James Johnson Magical Daredevil comedy show, there’s something for all ages! But what’s today’s highlight? Some might say the Superdogs, but you can catch that all week… special for today, from Treehouse’s hit TV Show, The Backyardigans! Making their only appearance at the winter fair today, these energetic characters get kids up dancing and singing. Featuring favorite characters like Pablo and Uniqua, this show promises to be a family hit. With today being so exciting, many daycares have made the trek to the Keystone centre to check out Family Day.Kokum’s Early Enrichment Program came out with eight of their children and their direcitor is looking forward to the show. “We’re hopefully going to make it to the Backyardigans today. We went to Fred Penner last year and it was packed, we’ll have to early to the show this year!” The winter fair is a perfect place to make lasting memories with the kids, especially on a day like today, Family Day. So bring the whole clan, stay for a day packed full of fun! And don’t miss today’s highlight, the Backyardigans, starting at 130pm.
